★★★½ Stardust
[Gino: 3.0, Twoshoes: 4.0]Gino says: 'Hmmm. This was a difficult one for me to rate, because I enjoyed it, but thought it was silly a bit too. So I am giving a respectable 3 stars. The nice thing was this had a solid fantasy element and a definite comedy element, but on the other hand the juxtaposition of those was hard to pull off, I think. I guess my problem is it didn't stray from fantasy in the way that "The Princess Bride" kinda did, if you know what I mean, but neither was it anything approaching "Lord of the Rings". That space in between is probably really good for young teens. It had a lot of neat bits, and looked really nice, but its wonders were not as focused and tight as a "Harry Potter" film, and those films I think are enjoyable for adult audiences too. And perhaps different casting would have suited me better -- I found Michelle Pfiefer, Claire Danes, and Robert DeNiro distracting a bit. I will say though, Twoshoes thought it really hit the mark for her: the combination of fantasy, comedy, and romance.'
