★★★½ The Wrestler
[Gino: 3.5]
Gino says: 'Oh Aronofsky. Ever the feel-good director. Sometimes I confuse your films with Gary Marshall's. I kid.
This film about the end of the career of a professional wrestler and his nearly futile attempts to patch up his life is impressive for its consistency of tone... The locations, weather, acting, good New Jersey accents, and from what I can tell choice of camera style all contribute to a consistently bleak mood. And yet you really become involved with the plight of the main character, because you stay with him the whole time. I think if it had ended 3 minutes earlier, I would have given it 4 stars. '
