★½ Shoot the Piano Player

[Gino: 1.5 sp]

Gino says: 'At first, I was grooving to the style of this 1960 Truffaunt film about a piano player with a gig well below his station who gets in trouble with gangsters. And I am sure audiences at the time were wowed by the deft and lighter-than-Hollywood camera work and settings. But then I realized this movie has one of the most boring protagonists (and love stories) ever, and the gangster element is comically (occasionally intentionally so) bland. I dare you to care.

I also had the problem that the dialog/subtitles were so fast that I constantly had to pause the movie to read them, but that might just be me.'
