★★ Garage Days

[Twinkletoes: 1.5, Gino: 2.0]

Twinkletoes says: 'This film comes to us from Alex Proyas, the guy who brought us The Crow and Dark City. Both dark affairs, the latter I believe much loved by Tiny. It is the mostly comedic story of a struggling rock band trying to make it in Australia. The most striking thing about this film is its sunny disposition. I think perhaps a bit too sunny. It's almost like Trainspotting as a Saturday morning sitcom like Saved By the Bell. I'm serious when I say that. I found the whole thing to be overwhelmingly and annoyingly innocuous and lightweight.'

Gino says: 'I had already recorded this to my laptop, and failed to re-read Twinkletoes' review, so I watched it. I agree with him overall. I didn't think it was horrible, but it felt like a first-time-filmmaker picture, and it was over-slick. I don't think I can improve on the simile about Trainspotting/Saved By The Bell.'
