★★★ In July
[Gino: 2.5, Twoshoes: 3.0]Gino says: '(i.e. "Im Juli" is the German title). This film played at the Philadelphia Film Fest years ago, so we gave it a try. This is a very hard one for me to review. I think my general feeling [and Twoshoes' mirrored mine] is that it was a pretty bad movie but somehow in the end we kinda enjoyed it. It basically is the story of a straight-laced school teacher's encounter with a bohemian woman who accidentally sends him chasing across Europe after another woman, when she meant to attract him to her. At which point it becomes a road movie. Improbable coincidences abound. And the somewhat formulaic ending isn't even all that gratifying or even convincing. Despite all that, as I said, we can't say we disliked it.'
