★★ The Foot Fist Way
[Twinkletoes: 2.0]Twinkletoes says: 'This comedy is about a not so bright martial arts instructor who is slowly losing control of his life. It seems to be trying very hard to go for that Napoleon Dynamite awkward humor vibe. Well they got the awkward part right. The problem is that save for a couple of moments, this thing isn't all that funny. I think the problem here is that where a film like Napoleon Dynamite created a world so far out there that you couldn't help but laugh at these people, this film is far more grounded. I can imagine a redneck karate instructior like this existing and as a result, there is an uneasy and ill fitting sense of melancholy throughout this picture.'

From the trailer, I think I was expecting the opposite from this film: a quirky quiet film that is somehow infused with truth about the human condition. Sounds like it was not that either.
