★★★★ The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

[Gino: 4.0 sp]

Gino says: 'This film is based on the true story of a high-powered magazine editor who suffers a stroke, leaving him with "shut-in" syndrome, unable to move or communicate except through blinking one eye. Through help from dedicated hospital specialists, he is eventually able to write a book via his blinking. It's a very good, deeply "human" film. Though, I didn't personally find it all that uplifting and life-affirming as many real film critics did. But I did find it very truthful. All involved deserve praise, but I will mention the cinematographer, Janusz Kaminski, who likely brought this 'to the next level'. '
