★★★ Chungking Express
[Gino: 3.0, Twoshoes: 3.0]Gino says: 'This is a 1994 film from director Kar Wai Wong telling two stories of Hong Kong policemen's women troubles, basically. I find it kinda hard to review this, because my thoughts aren't clear on it: The format was interesting (basically two separate stories but with only I think a common snack bar as their intersection), and some of the performances were endearing (such as one very quirky snack bar hostess and scenes where one of the lonely policemen talks tenderly-yet-sternly to his bar of soap). But the other woman's storyline (filmed cheesily and revolving around some drug smuggling) left me cold and felt out of place. So I guess my conclusion is, if you already were thinking about seeing this, I wouldn't try to change your mind, but otherwise no need to seek it out.'
