Gino says: 'This star-studded film from writer/director Wong Kar Wai is roughly about a writer in the 1960s Singapore who meets various women and works them into his science fiction writing (the title both refers to a hotel room where he meets one of the women and I think the year 2046). Professional movie reviews of this film seems to fall into two camps: the first (and the majority viewpoint) is that this is an intoxicating masterpiece. The second (and definitely minority) opinion is that it is all mood with nothing else going on. That was my feeling. The mood is definitely set and then set again, with the lush cinematography, noir-ish costumes, fanciful sci fi bits, etc. But to me it was 2+ hours of mood-setting, and I grew very tired. '
