★★★½ Wall-E
[Twinkletoes: 3.5, Gino: 3.0]Twinkletoes says: 'I'm not really ready to write a review of this thing being that we are still in the midst of our move, but I simply had to do something to combat Gino getting ahead of me. And given that I am above the Gino tactic if reviewing movies that I saw 20 years ago, I guess I will rush this thing out there. I liked it, but its not one of my Pixar favorites. I felt like the "take care of the earth/get up off your ass" messages were a little heavy-handed at times, and it sort of took this film out of the realm of timelessness that the best Pixar films seem to dwell in. Because lord knows these environmental issues will be gone in no time! '
Gino says: 'At this point, it should go without saying that, being a Pixar film, this is very high quality film-making. Their track record is amazing. Animation-wise, this story about a menial labor robot falling in love and rejuvenating humanity, is top-notch. And the little fellow is darn cute. But the story as a whole left me a bit flat. Without too much of a spoiler, let me say that once the humans enter into it, it gets somewhat "creepy" and as Twoshoes thinks, a bit too close the the reality mark. Don't miss the two shorts that appear as extras on the DVD though.'
