★★★★ You, the Living

[Twinkletoes: 4.0]

Twinkletoes says: 'First off let me say that this film looks great. It has an incredibly muted color palette coupled with an attention to detail that, while quite different, reminded me of Wes Anderson. You can tell that the director carefully thought out each and every scene. I also loved the Dixieland music that filled the soundtrack. Combined, these things created a very familiar yet very strange world, sort a dream world of the mundane. As for the story being told, the entire film was a series of vignettes. Some where fantastic like the one with the man who daydreams about being sentenced to death for breaking someone's antique china set. But some of them have already been almost completely forgotten by me. Overall this is a very admirable film that I am perhaps being a little generous with based largely on how successfully it creates its little world. I am anxious to revisit this again on DVD.'
