★★ Revenge of the Nerds
[Gino: 2.0 sp]Gino says: 'Well, at least I can say for it that it did have a plot that was economical and progressed steadily in time. But all in all fairly flat: The relationships (e.g. between the two main nerds, or one of them and his girlfriend) remained pretty two dimensional, and the gags were only mildly funny. I kinda liked Pondexter, though.
I found my mind wondering on two topics: (A) "Nerds" in 1984 when this was made apparently included the demographic categories of homosexuals and Asian peoples. (B) In the real world, hasn't there been a real revenge of the nerds in the Steve Jobs and Bill Gates of the world? Only it didn't come about by beating the jocks at "their own game" (the frat homecoming carnival), but by making all mankind slaves to their inventions. We came full circle from this movie to The Matrix.'
