★★★½ Mrs. Ratcliffe's Revolution
[Twinkletoes: 3.5]Twinkletoes says: 'This British film is about a British family in 1968. The father is a hardcore communist and decides to move his family to East Germany. But life is not quite what they expected. While the father and youngest daughter fully embrace their new life, the free spirited teenage daughter is a handful and the mother loses her sense of purpose in this strange new world. One day she accidentally helps a young man escape to the West and becomes determined to do the same for her family. Misunderstandings, close calls and hilarity ensue. I fully admit that a 3.5 may perhaps be a bit high for such a modest film but this was a total throwback to the vibrantly colorful comedies of the late 1960's and as such, tailor made for me. I could just imagine Peter Sellers, Maggie Smith and Haley Mills starring in this thing 40 years ago. For those of you not really into that sort of thing, you would probably be better off avoiding this.'
