★★★ The Jungle Book

[Gino: 3.0 sp]

Gino says: '(This time, the "subpar viewing conditions" had to do with children, not screen resolution or anything). Well, of course this is a Disney film, and so had a certain "greatness" to it -- the way they can fit an archetype onto an animal's face and all. But in the end, the only message in this film was "birds of a feather should flock together", which is pretty weak, if you think about it. The rest of the movie involves references to drug culture about half a decade out of step (seems to me). Mostly beatnicks, in 1967. These are cute enough. The best song is not "the Bear Necessities" but the one King Louie sings "I wanna be like You(hoo-hoo)". " '
