★★★ Something The Lord Made
[Gino: 3.0 sp]Gino says: 'This film was about heart surgery pioneers: a maverick white doctor and his virtuoso black lab assistant, during segregation and soon after. I think it was a made-for-HBO movie, and it definitely felt like a TV movie. But even so, it was pretty good, mostly because it starred two actors I enjoy: Alan Rickman, and Mos Def.'

When I read "black lab" assistant I actually pictured a dog for a moment.
Now THAT would have been a movie!
Perhaps though, it was my political incorrectness, but I wasn't going to go calling the "white" character "european-american" so it felt conspicuous to use "african-american".
