DVD: Battlestar Galactica (The Miniseries)

[Tiny: 3.5]

(This television miniseries is available from netflix on a single three hour disc.) Mrs. Tiny and I started watching it and, like a good book, we couldn't put it down (or turn it off). We forced ourselves to do so two hours in when it was getting late, and we eagerly watched the last hour the following night. We really enjoyed it. I gave it a 3.5 as if this were a movie, but if it were a television show it would be a 4.0, if that makes any sense. For TV, the special effects and sets are outstanding. But what really captured our imagination was the smart story, the twists, some great writing, and exciting drama. Good themes, too, from big issues like "is humanity, with its flaws, even worth saving" to more typical stuff involving family relationships. I plan to start renting the discs from the series.

Can I assume this is the modern-day battlestar galactica, not the old one? I think precedence puts it in freeform, as I posted "life and death of peter selers" a tv-movie on freeform, will have to consider.
