★½ Detour To Terror

[Tiny: 1.5]

Mrs. Tiny woke up early and started watching this made for TV movie starring OJ Simpson as a tour bus driver. I saw the back half, and boy, it is pretty bad, like, Capricorn One bad. The movie is about a bus that is on its way from New Mexico to Las Vegas. It is highjacked in the desert by some bad guys who hope to kidnap the wife of a wealthy passenger. Things go awry, and the bad guys leave the tour group stranded in the desert with their wounded bus. The movie is meant to be tense, but Laugh In's Arte Johnson is the bus company tour guide, and, well, it just doesn't work. The desert settings remind you an awful lot of Capricorn One. The acting in this movie is laughably bad, as is the Spanish accent of one bad guy. Why even 1.5 stars? The bad guys use dune buggies. Supposedly Nicole Brown has an uncredited appearance as one of the passengers, but I wouldn't recognize her.

I am wondering what is the fascination with O.J. movies? (Not sure I can call it a fascination really, but that was the main reason for watching Capricorn One at your place). Now, searching Capricorn One on the site turns up 2 posts, which is nice. Thanks, G
