★★★★★ Lady Vengeance
[Twinkletoes: 5.0]
After seeing a badly-butchered and out of order print at the 2006 Philly Film Fest, I finally got to see this film as it was originally intended. Actually I believe the director's original intent was to have this film start in vibrant color and slowly turn to black-and-white by the end of the film. This is not that version, but at least it was complete and in the right order. Amazing. Possibly may favorite of the Vengeance Trilogy. The film was gorgeous to look at and I found it to be incredibly moving, powerful and even beautiful in a fairy tale sort of way. That being said I suspect I am the only one of us who will ever see this so I won't go on.
This is now 3 straight films from Chan-wook Park that I have been blown away by. I can't wait to see where he goes from here, and I eagerly await his next film the "romantic comedy", I'm A Cyborg But That's OK.
