★★★½ Little Fish

[Gino: 3.5, TwoShoes:3.0]

Gino says: "Let's see: This film is a pretty grim look at some Australians trying to shake off past drug adiction and the ties to a crime boss that go along with that. But within that basic concept, the plot or at least character relationships are pretty complex. The cinematagraphy itself is pretty nice and artsy, (e.g. with only parts of the screen in focus, closeups of objects, etc.) The acting is also quite good. Renting this fell under the category of "Gino will watch most anything with Cate Blanchette in it, as he thinks she's about the greatest actress" but it was Hugo Weaving who stole the show for me. I had only seen him in things where little acting was required (Matrix, LOTR, V for Vendetta). In this he really showed his stuff. Anyway, in the end a very well made film, that I didn't entirely enjoy watching I guess."
