I realize this is a cherished Bergman film by many people. I found it kinda miserable and not even in the most artsy way. It just left a bad taste in my mouth without even bringing me along for some emotional ride first. The late 19-th C. period piece filmed in 1972 gave it a kinda Lawrence Welk Show look to it. Only a slow, depressing, overly-dramatic, unclear Sweedish Lawrence Welk Show without as many polkas.
