Technically, this is a DVD not movie review. This is a collection of shorts based on the universe of The Matrix trilogy. The animation here is all quite good, ranging from almost photo-realistic, to the stylized. With any collection of shorts you'll get a wide range (in quality, relevance, story, etc). This collection is better than others (e.g. the Star Wars Clone Wars ones). A few segments are really good and kinda give prequel back story to The Matrix, and that story is very dark and sad. The last segment or two were less good. To be honest, this is probably a 3-star DVD, but the extra 1/2 is to give it a positive review for (A) the nice animation and (B) for reminding me what a great idea the Matrix was: the idea that society's misfits feel the way they do because they have a sense of a true reality to which your average Joe is oblivious. Great SciFi."
