★★½ It Happened One Night

This Frank Capra directed road picture (and romantic comedy) is fine and harmless. Clark Gable is amusing at times. His character's persona seems to alternate wildly between goofiness (think Johnny Depp in "Ed Wood") and sullen (stealing cars and threatening physical violence against women). Meanwhile, Eyebrows' -- I mean Claudette Eyebrows' -- I mean Claudette Colbert's Eyebrows(!) are so distracting that I can't really remember her performance. I can't really find a photo that does them justice. Not a terrible film though: I gained more respect finding out it was shot in only four weeks.
