★★★½ Good Night And Good Luck
[Gino: 2.5, TwoShoes: 4.0]
Gino says: "I will say that this film has technically beautiful. The black and white photography (which I was initially skeptical of) was done very nicely. Nor can I really find fault with the actors, etc. My only real complaint is that for me, this film failed to sweep me away into the story. Twoshoes felt kinda similar, but obviously it didn't bother her as much: she thought perhaps it showed some restraint to not overly-sensationalize the plot [which centers upon Edward R. Murrow editorialized against the tactict of Josephy McCarthy]. I agree with that, but found its realism less entertaining as a result. I'll give you an example: A Few Good Men, a film about standing up to authority, is probably a lesser movie on nearly all levels, but as it build up to its 'You can't handle the truth!', I found it more effective that this one."
