★★★ Confessions of a Dangerous Mind

[Gino: 3.0]

[Watched in two parts on the train.] This film had really tastefully-slick production. Filmed in a low-tech, somewhat low-budget, almost old-fashioned way that was pulled off nicely, giving the film a nice look and feel. The premise being that Chuck Barris (loser-y creater of somewhat lewd TV game shows, and host of the Gong Show) was also a CIA operative who killed 30-something human beings. The problem with this film is that once you hear that interesting premise, that's about it: all the interest is in the premise and no need to really see the thing, even with a solid script, etc. Know what I mean? If you knew nothing about it, you probably wouldn't watch it, but on the other hand would enjoy it more. I guess I am saying it is a paradox.
