The most surprising thing about this film was how well made it was. I was expecting a low budget freak show but got reasonably well made and well acted film with some realistic effects and makeup. The main thing holding this back from getting a slightly better rating is the subject matter. No matter how straight you play it (and they played it totally straight) there is a good amount of camp inherent to a story about a man who feeds women to death and the women who enjoy being bedridden and fed ungodly amounts of food. It’s that ridiculousness that kept the film from having more bite and kept me from getting more involved.
