★★★ In Her Shoes

[Tiny: 3.5 (p), Twinkletoes: 2.5, Gino: 3.0 (sp)]

Tiny says: "It is hard for me to be objective about a movie given that I have some connections to it and that was largely shot in the city and neighborhoods where I live and work. But I think my star rating is accurate. This is a movie that, it wasn't for those connections, I would probably never see, or only maybe maybe see (I did somehow see, and like, The Truth About Cats and Dogs). It goes by quickly for a movie that is over two hours long, has some good laughs, some teary moments involving literacy and sisterhood, and some really stereotypical chick-movie male characters (particularly Simon Stein, the 'nice, not-too-handsome guy who was right under her nose all along')."

Gino says: "What I did like about this film is that no one character was really 100% bad or good: like real people, they all had their good and bad qualities, and at least some hand in creating their dysfunctional (or functional) relationships. It also made me wish that Shirley MacLaine were in more films I see."

I'm trying to figure out which of you 2 just saw ths film. Is it standard procedure that the posts are in chronological order? I guess that would make sense since I can't imagine Tiny only now just saw this thing. Bt then again, I'm wondering why Gino just saw it. Either way I think it was just OK.

Also Tiny, be careful. People from all around the world come to this site. You're giving away some real personal information about who you know. This kind of stuff adds up and who knows what a determined fan of the site may do after finding out who you are? Now if you'll excuse me I need to log off so I can pick up my kids from cricket practice.

You are correct about the order. As to why I saw it: this was one of those recorded-from-cable / watched on laptop kinda things. For which I outlined my criteria earlier (and those are different from how we pick say "netflix" queue films.)

Maybe I'm an idiot but what does the (sp) mean next to your star rating?

Also, as I typed in the "code" thing to actually make my last comment the thing about the chances of a monkey typing Hamlet came up. I wonder if the entire text of Hamlet has appeared as those little codes yet. Like maybe this time I'll have to type "tobeorn" and someone else is typing "ottonet". Hmm, maybe there's an apocolyptic story idea there.

The "sp" is perhaps not the best abbreviation, but stood for "sub-par" viewing conditions, which usually means full-screen and low resolution recorded from HBO.

It took me a while to figure out what you meant by the "codes". When I am signed into google, I guess I don't have to type any codes to comment.

3 things:
1. I meant ottobet.
2. Once I log into google I know longer have to type in one of those codes. Its just the 1st time which really cuts down on the probability that bloggers have rewritten Hamlet. Perhaps one of his sonnets.
3. The things that came to my mind regarding the "sp" were spelling, in which case why not just correct it if you noticed it in your own post, or spoilers, of which I saw none. Thanks for clarifying.

Thanks, Twinkletoes, whoever you are. I made my references more vague and left some grammar errors in so no one will no who I am, who you are, or who we know (or, relatedly, who we don't know). See you at the backgammon finals.
