★★★½ Jane Eyre (2011)

[Gino: 3.5]Gino says: 'The good thing about "Jane Eyre", particularly if it's been so long since you've read it that you forgot most of it, is that there is a little mystery and even creepiness to it. It isn't all a "will she marry to secure herself financially?" kinda thing. This movie follows suite on those aspects, while also making nice use of the magnificent but cold English/Scottish manor house settings. I am not really familiar with previous incarnations of this movie, but I would have given this one 4 stars had the last act not dragged a bit for me. [Enjoyed it at the Landmark Sunshine on Houston St., eschewing the Tribeca Film Fest last Friday.]'
