★★★ Trust the Man
[Gino: 3.0]Gino says: 'On the one hand (especially when you've seen a lot of Woody Allen movies), you can only see so many romantic comedy/dramas about art-world New Yorkers struggling with man-woman differences and the challenges of maturing and fidelity. On the other hand, you can always see one more. This one stars David Duchovny (who is impossibly likable even when he's playing a flawed man -- this film has a pretty low opinion of men, though in a loving way), Julianne Moore, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Billy Crudup as the two struggling couples in question.
It is not really a feel-good movie, nor a downer, though I warn you, as all such movies must, it does end with everyone declaring their love in front of live audience. But quite honestly, I think I am short-changing this film, as I am very close to giving it 3.5 stars because it was honestly very funny at times. If it sounds like your thing, go ahead and see it.'
