★★★½ In Bruges
[Twinkletoes: 3.0, Gino: 3.5]Twinkletoes says: 'For the most part, I enjoyed this film about 2 hit-men sent away to Bruges after a hit gone wrong. However, the film is saddled with an absurdly contrived ending that felt like the punchline to a 90 minute joke. It is a shame. This could have been something really special.'
Gino says: 'I guess Twinkletoes is right about the very end of the movie, but it doesn't take so much away from a good film. I guess I wasn't bothered because I didn't find it so very realistic in the first place (if you think about it, Twinkletoes, much of the movie would have been rendered plot-less, if the characters had just carried around mobile phones!) But I don't think this discussion should discourage a would-be renter of this movie. I can solidly recommend it with 3.5 stars. This was kinda like a wickedly-funny post-Tarantino humor+violence+morality combination, with three great actors, toned down a bit, and then placed in a lovely setting ("It's in Belgium").'
