★★★ Chef's Special

[Tiny: 2.5, Gino: 4.0, Twoshoes: 3.5, Twinkletoes: 2.0]

Tiny says:
'We all saw this [together] so I'll keep it short. I had several good laughs. I was bored at times. A very "foreign" feeling foreign film.'

Gino says: '(Fuera de carta) First off, my 4.0 stars includes a "film festival bump" -- the organic inflation of the score from the pleasure of being out and about at a film festival. So 3.5 if I had rented it. To summarize: a gay, struggling, restaurant owner deals with keeping his staff afloat while learning to be a family man when circumstances present him with two kids from his sham of a marriage. Much good-hearted verbal abuse (creative and pervasive) and bad parenting ensue. I found it consistently funny and enjoyable. '

Twinkletoes says: 'I'm with Tiny on this one. Occasionally funny. My problem with this film is the same problem I often have with Spanish comedies. The tend to be too farcical for my tastes. In addition, I find the look of many of these films (including this one) to border on the garish.'
