★★★ Parenthood
[Gino: 3.0 sp]Gino says: 'This Ron Howard film starring, well, a whole mess'a people, but including Steve Martin, was, like all Ron Howard films, abundantly competent film-making, but with few chances taken. It involves an extended family and their trials, failures, and occasional victories raising their children. I am being a little stingy with a 3.0, because most of what was going on was well acted and written, but something... maybe the feeling of a Beverly Hills setting while Steve Martin's character worries about money felt a bit off. I enjoyed of course Jason Robards. But most of all I think the part of the plot dealing with Diane Wiest's character. Now, I'm rambling, but if you haven't seen this already, you probably won't anyway.'
