★★★½ A Civil Action

[Tiny: 3.5 sp]

Tiny says: 'IHard to believe I never previously saw this very popular account of a trial involving contaminated water that sickened people outside Boston. liked the (relatively) realistic portrayal of what lawyers do, especially Duvall's character. Travolta wasn't awful, either. The movie does a nice job of making its points that courtrooms aren't great places to obtain justice, and, given that, lawyers are foolish if they are seeking justice instead of seeking a good outcome for their clients. I also really liked the film's denouement, which seemed a lot more real than some big courtroom drama scene. At base, I found that there was something admirable about both Duvall's character and Travolta's, and that made the movie enjoyable.'

Oh, the subpar viewing conditions: I watched this while working, so I sort of had about a quarter of an eye on it much of the time, and I also wound up interrupted by a phone call for about an hour.
