★★★½ Immortal Beloved

[Gino: 3.5 sp]

Gino says: 'This is that film from the mid-90's about Beethoven. I had seen if long ago, so this was a revisiting. I felt Gary Oldman was a nice choice to play this version of a tortured artist who is kinda an real jerk but not a total monster. The writer was smart to concentrate on the maestro's deafness and to make it a sort of "mystery" film (the main story is the search, after the composer's death, for his secret lover to whom he has left all his estate). Supporting players are strong, I think.'
