★★½ The Ten

[Twinkletoes: 2.0, Gino: 2.5]

Twinkletoes says: "This film made up of skits revolving around each of the 10 commandments was occasionally hilarious (the CAT scan skit), occasionally mildly amusing (the Jesus skit), but mostly tedious (the animated skit rivals the penguins in jail thing we saw a few years ago for sheer awfulness). If you are familiar with short lived Comedy Central show Stella, it’s by the same makers. If you liked that show then you may enjoy this film. The humor here is in a similar irrelevant and almost surrealistic vein."

Gino says: "Wow, the makers of this film certainly didn't censor their stream of consciousness humor here. While giving this a similar score as Twinkletoes, I think I disagree in the details. While he seemed to find it uneven, I didn't. Instead, I felt like it was almost uniformly very funny but 'on paper'. It's execution, while proficiently acted and deftly filmed, lacked something almost intangible. This was a very Monty Pythonesque kinda thing, and I think what it lacked was a certain British flavor to the outlandish humor. What made Monty Phython more funny while doing similarly ridiculous things was the veneer of proper-ness and sanity inherent in their nationalities that contrasted with what they were acting out. Also, the animated segment in no way shape of form approached the horribleness of the penguins-in-jail fiasco."
