½ Twelve and Holding

The following contains a couple of spoilers so if you have any interest in seeing this movie, don’t read this. This film had the odd and rare ability to both bore AND grossly offend me. It’s the story of 3 friends of the titular age. The one friend is a very overweight boy who decides to make him and his family healthy much to the dismay of the family. No problem with that story. Another friend is a girl who becomes obsessed with a local construction worker who she tries to seduce. The 3rd friend is a boy whose twin brother is mistakenly killed by bullies at the beginning of the film. He spends the rest of the film visiting the murderers in juvenile detention and tormenting them, one to the point of suicide. The other he pretends to befriend only to murder him after his release from the detention center. The ending revolted me. The acting was a bit amateurish and the film had no particular directorial flair. My guess is that if I looked at the DVD extras I’d find out that there was a 4th friend that was a baby murderer. I really hated it.
