★★★ Three Extremes

Twinkletoes says: This is a film made up of 3 short films of about 45 minutes in length. Each short film deals with the horrific and is directed by one of Asia's young talents. In this case Chan-wook Park of Oldboy fame, the completely insane Takashi Miike and the improbably and cooly named Fruit Chan, who I am not familiar with. All 3 were OK but I had problems with each. Miike's film was beautifully creepy but it's not really "Miike". Park's film was also beautiful and had promise but it sort of felt like he wrote the thing in his free time and made the short for a paycheck. Chan's film was clearly the most terrifying of the 3 but I felt like the story needed a lot of expanding to be a fully satisfying experience.
