★★★ Music From The Inside Out
[Tiny: 3.0]
This is a nice documentary that followed the Philadelphia Orchestra around for a bit; it uses interviews with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra to explore how musicians feel about music. There is no plot or chronology, just a few organizing principles. It is a difficult subject -- it is hard for people to use words to describe that sort of thing. But the whole thing is nicely done, and it was interesting to see the extent to which some of them feel artistically frustrated by the constraints of classical music. For me personally (being a fan of classical music and a person who has seen the Philadelphia Orchestra enough to recognize many of the interview subjects), this was probably more than a 3.0 but I think the average viewer would still enjoy it and thus the 3.0.
