★★★★½ The Edukators
[Gino: 4.0, Twoshoes: 4.0, Twinkletoes: 5.0]
Editor's note: Twinkletoes originally (unofficially) gave this film a 4.5.
Twinkletoes says: "One of 3 really great films at this year's [2005 Philadelphia Film] festival. The basic story is about 3 peaceful young people who are all activists of the antiglobalization sort, who find themselves unwantingly kidnapping a rich industrialist and learning a lot about themselves as they get to know this guy more and more. There is a romantic triagle with the activists, a past history bewteen one of them and the rich guy, some suprising revelations about the history of the rich guy. All of the aspects of the story really worked for me. The performances by the young people were all great and I liked the ending a lot. I am strongly recommending this to you guys if it ever comes out on video, and I think it may. It's been named one of the festival favorites and often TLA Releasing picks up these films for DVD release."
Gino says: "I too enjoyed this. I admire films that show me a very different slice of life than mine and yet never go over that line to make it ridiculous for entertainment's sake. While I think this might end up getting ranked higher than it really deserves due to Twinkletoes' 5 stars, I can unreservedly recommend it."
