★★★½ The Break Up

Yes, this was a comedy but it isn't at all the zany fluffy thing the previews play it off as. I'd call it a broader War of the Roses. Vince Vaughn was great but then again I think he's great in every comedy he does. Jennifer Aniston was decent. The supporting players were almost all very good. The one exception for me was Jason Bateman. Am I the only one that finds him wooden and bland in everything he does? I am going to try to be as vague as I can here but spoilers may follow. I give kudos to the film for trying to end things a little differently but my main problem with the film is that it didn't earn that ending. I actually would have liked this film more if it did have the normal Hollywood ending. It's exactly where the last 3rd of the film was leading and it would have been far more satisfying than the sudden change of heart that led to the actual ending.
