★★★ The Interpreter

Gino says: "My 3.0 is leaning towards a 2.5. This Sydney Pollack film is about a UN interpreter (Nicole Kidman) overhearing about a planned assassination and the secret service agent (Sean Penn) sent to investigate/protect her. It is filled with twists that try to keep you guessing. This film didn't quite work for me. It had all the elements of a good old-school thriller a la Clear and Present Danger mode: complex plot, big stars, nice locations, etc. But something never clicked. Neither I nor Twoshoes can put our fingers on the problem though, so this is a very mild thumbs up, I guess."
