This is the sequel to the 2000 film Battle Royale. That film took place in a near future Japan that is in chaos. Children are uncontrollable in a society on the brink of collapsing. In order to combat this problem the government enacts the Battle Royale Act. Basically, the act requires that 1 class of middle schoolers be randomly picked to be placed on a remote island where each will be outfitted with a random weapon. They have 24 hours, and if more than one person is still living [after that] they will all be killed. Needless to say I loved the film.

Unfortunately this film really sucked. Needlessly long, boring and nonsensical battles coupled with a heavy handed message, bad acting and ridiculous characters made for an awful film. I will say this: instead of using squibs for the blood they used computer genrated effects. It was probably to save money but it added a very cool visual style to the film and I hope to see it used again in something better.
