★★★★ Floating Weeds (1959)
[Twinkletoes: 4.5, Gino: 3.5]
Twinkletoes says: "This is the second film I have seen of the revered Japanese director Yasujiro Ozu (the first being Good Morning which I think I gave a 4 star rating to a few months ago). It's the story of a traveling acting troupe making a stop in a town that one of its members has a bit of a past in. It's funny: for the longest time I was reluctant to give his films a chance as the brief descriptions of the films just seemed boring to me. But the thing is, Ozu has a really magical way of taking simple human stories of normal people's lives and really drawing you into their world. I strongly urge everyone to give his films a look."
